Harry Styles- Sign of the Times
This music video belongs to the genre of pop rock and features the artist Harry Styles walking in a field and then flying in the sky. This is his first official song released and he is presenting himself in a casual style on his own so the audiences' attention is on him the entire time. It has a very relaxed and subtle colour palette that works well with the style of the song as it isn't a loud party song in comparison to a typical dance song belonging to the pop genre such as 'Last Friday Night' by Katy Perry. This shows me how the music video has to work with the style of music so it will be appropriate for the audience. It is a combination of both a performance and narrative based music video.
Huntar- Echo
This music video features the artist Huntar and includes multiple clips of himself at his concerts and meeting his fans. It belongs to the genre of Rock/R&B. He is dressed in a laid back casual style to give the friendly approach to his fans so they aren't intimidated. It is a performance based video and the music video is very relaxed despite the setting being at one of his concerts and the purpose of using his concerts in the music video could encourage any fans to go and see him.
Katy Perry- Last Friday Night
Last Friday Night is a song by the American Singer Katy Perry and the song is from her third studio album, Teenage Dream. Katy Perry was said to be inspired for this song after a night about with her friends and recalled what she could remember from the morning after. This music video features the typical conventional teenage party displaying teenagers in party stereotypically drinking and getting drunk. It is both a performance and narrative based music video. The artist is featured as a character called Kathy Beth and is the stereotypical introvert but soon gets involved in her neighbours' party. The music video has a bright and vibrant colour palette conveying the fun and outgoing approach which works well with the party included. This music video has a lively and comedic approach which worked well with the audience around 950 million views which tells me the music video was effective as a lot of people watched it.
Gotye- Somebody That I Used To Know
This is performance based music video including the artist Gotye and the featured singer/guitarist Kimbra and it is a performance based music video. and it belongs to the pop/chart genre. It could be considered to be abstract as it is a very unconventional music video featuring Goyte in front of a white wall and gradually is painted to match the background. The painting symbolises their combined relationship and is inspired by an 1980s artwork by Gotye's father.
